Isaac Gilinski – Biography

Isaac Gilinski is the Founder and Head of Research at Brickell Analytics LLC, a global macro research firm specializing in contrarian market analysis. Since its founding in 2011, Brickell Analytics has developed a two-pronged approach to market forecasting. The first approach is technical, utilizing handwriting techniques on charts to generate price targets across various asset classes, including equities, bonds, commodities, cryptocurrencies, and foreign exchange. Brickell’s proprietary forecasting tools integrate Elliott wave theory, sentiment analysis, and Fibonacci retracements and extensions to identify market trends and price targets. The second approach is quantitative, leveraging predictive models to forecast the daily direction of the S&P 500 and oil. These models, backed by a 14-year track record, generate daily trading signals used by institutional investors. Brickell Analytics’ research serves a diverse clientele, including financial advisors, hedge fund managers, institutional investors, family offices, mutual funds, and registered investment advisers.

Key Accomplishments

Isaac and Brickell Analytics have made several notable market calls, including an early 2013 prediction of a significant decline in the AUD-USD exchange rate. Brickell’s analysis—based on short-term sentiment indicators and long-term wave patterns—identified the Australian dollar as overvalued and projected a 20% decline. Billionaire investor George Soros made the same call, placing a $1 billion short position on the currency. The AUD-USD subsequently fell 16% between April and August 2013 and declined 48% between April 2013 and March 2020, confirming the accuracy of Brickell’s forecast.

Professional Background

Isaac began his career in 2000 as one of the youngest investment professionals at Lehman Brothers. By 2001, he was promoted to help develop the Latin American sales division for Global Capital Management, a newly formed asset management group within Lehman.

In 2002, Isaac founded the Brickell Family Office, a multi-family office initially structured as a fund-of-hedge-funds. Over the years, he has continued to evaluate investments for the firm, leveraging his expertise in macroeconomic trends, market analysis, and portfolio construction. In addition to his work at the Brickell Family Office, Isaac launched Brickell Analytics in 2011, focusing on technical and quantitative market research. Between 2012 and 2015, Isaac also served as an independent macro researcher, providing in-depth market analysis to the CIO of a $30 billion family office and macro hedge fund.

Outside of finance, Isaac ventured into the nutritional supplement industry, co-founding a time-release supplement business in partnership with Osmopharm Switzerland in 2002. His flagship product, GreenCoffex, was a proprietary timed-release green coffee extract formulation. In 2014, he assumed the role of Chief Scientist and Researcher, steering the company’s evolution into a research organization focused on studying the effects of nutritional supplements on pathogens in-vitro.

Education

Isaac attended Choate Rosemary Hall , a prestigious boarding school in Wallingford, Connecticut, graduating in 1996. He then earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) in Finance and International Business from Georgetown University, graduating cum laude in 2000 with a minor in German. Pursuing further academic excellence, he obtained an MBA in Investments and Corporate Finance from the University of Miami, graduating summa cum laude in 2004. A lifelong learner, Isaac is fluent in Spanish, German, and Italian.

Personal Background

Raised in Barranquilla, Colombia, Isaac comes from a family of accomplished business leaders and entrepreneurs. During his childhood, Colombia faced a severe banking crisis, with increasing instability due to kidnappings and guerilla activity. In 1993, at age 15, Isaac left Colombia to attend boarding school in the United States following the privatization of Banco de Colombia and escalating security concerns. Despite this early displacement, he remained close to his extended family, many of whom grew up together in Colombia. Isaac’s journey—from his early experiences in Colombia to founding Brickell Analytics and managing investments at Brickell Family Office—reflects a deep commitment to rigorous analysis, financial expertise, and entrepreneurial innovation.
